We read "Green Eggs and Ham". Initially my activity was going to be to fix green eggs and ham for lunch, but we didn't have any ham and today is National Pancake Day, so we had pancakes, eggs and bacon for breakfast. We also took a family "field trip" to Target so Eryn and Eva could choose something with their Christmas and Valentine money. That was a learning experience regarding money, "less than" (as in "you need to select something that is less than $25"), and patience (for Mom and Dad).
That pushed our Mom School to this evening, where we combined it with Ember's 20 minutes of reading time required for school.
Following our reading of the book we practiced proper place settings: the girls used tape, paper plates and napkins, and plastic cups and cutlery, to create a place setting. On their plate they could draw something to eat.
Ember decided to make it a funny food plate, in the spirit of "green eggs," including a pink egg, gray apples, red ice cream, blue Honey Nut Cheerios (her current fave meal), yellow ham and orange pasta.
Eryn focused on her fave foods; potatoes and gravy and broccoli among them.
Eva created more of an art statement.
Best moment was when Ember asked if we could do Mom School every evening. I delicately explained that normally we do Mom School when she is in "real school", but that during the summer when she was home we would continue on with Mom School.
